If you are like me, you love doing PCIT so much you are just dying to spread the word and teach others how to do this incredibly potent therapy. Becoming a Within Agency (i.e., what we used to call Level 1) Trainer allows to you teach others within your program how to deliver PCIT with fidelity and to help your group or agency to build a sustainable and scalable PCIT program. Within Agency training starts with an 8 hour didactic course followed by one year of monthly consultation calls until you assist one therapist to meet their core competencies and to graduate one PCIT case. This training enriches your own understanding and practice of PCIT in the process. Our training model takes into account adult learning styles, to maximize the goodness of fit with your consultees. We provide you with our approved Power Point slides to conduct your own required didactic training with your consultee, so no need to re-invent that wheel!

As a Within Agency trainer, also known as an In-House Trainer, you are allowed to train someone else using either a live, equal co-therapy model, or a live, contemporaneous consultation model, where you are observing and coaching that therapist in real time, either remotely, or in-person, as your clinic situation and COVID restrictions might allow. We will train you to do the work for both remote and in-person situations. The goal is to train you to train at least one individual therapist to the point that they graduate one family from PCIT. You can then independently continue to train new PCIT therapists in your work setting. The course fee of $1800 includes the two half-day didactics, one year of monthly consultation calls, live or video review of selected sessions with you and your consultee(s), and free access to our basic training PowerPoint slides and all course materials, e.g., COACH Code manual.

This training is consistent with the official guidelines of PCIT International.

When: June 13, 2025, 8:30am-5:30pm Eastern US time. The 12 monthly consultation calls will be held every second Wednesday of the month beginning from 7/9/25 to 6/10/26 10-11am

Who: Certified therapists who have graduated at least 2 cases are eligible to start the Level 1 process, but need to have graduated 4 cases to finish the process along with the other competency milestones.

Intended Audience Participants: This course is intended for therapists already certified by PCIT International who wish to become certified Within Agency trainers.

Instructional Levels: Advanced

PCIT International, Inc. is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. PCIT International, Inc. maintains responsibility for this program and its content.  We provide 7.5 Continuing Education credits (CEs) for psychologists for this training.  The CE certificate will be awarded to all participants who complete the 7.5 hours of training and have paid for the CE certificate. CE certificates will be emailed within 90 days of the training sessions. Partial credit can not be offered per APA. There is no commercial support for this CE program. Learning objectives. Upon completion, participants should be able to:

• State the PCIT International criteria to become both a Certified Therapist and a Level 1 Trainer
• State the required number of hours and sequence of live, contemporaneous co-therapy or supervision with therapists in training
• Use the COACH Code system to reliably evaluate therapist skills
• Reliably assess therapist competencies in coding and coaching
• Effectively teach the didactic portion of the basic PCIT therapist training
• Provide accurate, sensitive and effective corrective feedback to training therapists
• Deliver case consultation and training both via telehealth and in-person to training therapists
