Nicole Drost, MA, PsyD is one of our 2022-2023 Post-Doctoral Psychology Fellows at Kurtz Psychology Consulting. Dr. Drost provides individual and family treatment with a focus on the family’s strengths and improving family system functioning. She has extensive training in evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Modular Approach to Therapy for Children and Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, and Conduct Problems (Match-ADTC), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Her doctoral research explored teacher perspectives of inclusion-based classrooms and how burnout impacted educator viewpoints on working in inclusive settings. |
Dr. Drost obtained her MA and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology with concentrations in Children and Families of Adversity and Resilience and Latinx Mental Health from the Clinical PsyD program at William James College in Newton, Massachusetts. She completed her APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at Astor Services for Children and Families in Bronx, NY. As a pre-doctoral intern, she provided individual, group, and family therapies for children and families in Astor’s Outpatient Clinic for youth struggling with depression, anxiety, ADHD and trauma-related disorders. Dr. Drost also provided trauma-informed services at Astor’s Day Treatment program, a therapeutic school serving youth struggling with externalizing challenges. She provided consultation with school staff, group therapies to elementary-age youth, and created student specific interventions following the school-wide behavioral intervention plan. Nicole has additionally received pre-doctoral training at McLean Franciscan’s Community Based Acute Treatment Program (CBAT), Boston Children’s Hospital’s Martha Eliot Health Center, Gosnold’s Dual Diagnosis Partial Hospitalization Program, and two schools in Worcester Public School District in Worcester, MA. Nicole also held positions as a Clinical Team Leader for the Child Mind Institute Summer Program in New York, New York and as a behavioral therapist providing Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapy at ABS Behavioral Health in Framingham, Massachusetts. |
Dr. Drost is passionate about working with diverse populations and providing evidence-based treatment modalities in a culturally sensitive manner. She has presented to and mentored college-age students on the growing needs in the mental health field, as well as discussed the importance of identifying disparities in mental health. Throughout graduate school, Nicole worked as the assistant to the director of the Latino Mental Health Program at William James College to promote awareness of mental health needs within the Latinx population through schoolwide and community events. At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Nicole also developed and implemented the Alternative Field Placement Experience program at William James College, which aimed to provide supplemental training needs for students whose training in the mental health field was impacted by the pandemic. Nicole is passionate about helping families identify their strengths and become their own agents of change. She is open and communicative and works to help children and families feel empowered throughout the therapeutic process to meet their needs. In her free time, Nicole enjoys baking, being active, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. |
