Lunch N Learn: Frankfurt Scale for Selective Mutism: A New Validated Tool for Tracing SM Progress

Screening, diagnosis and assessment of selective mutism (SM) are hampered by a lack of validated measures. The assessment of the individual speaking pattern of a child with SM can be a very time-consuming procedure. The Frankfurt Scale of Selective Mutism (FSSM) is a novel, parent-rated measure including both diagnostic and severity scales that can be used for both clinical and research purposes.

This webinar will introduce the measure and its age-adapted versions for kindergarteners, schoolchildren and adolescents and report on the results of the evaluation study. Explanations will be given about its practical use, the analysis of results, particularly the diagnostic cut-offs found, and the handbook and scoring templates available to facilitate its implementation into routine clinical practice, as well as of course for research purposes.
